Youth Development

NICK (Nurturing Inner City Kids)– The NICK program of The Life Development Center. focuses on the development of children and youth in the inner city through activities such as after-school programming in neighborhood schools, youth talent development events, provision of a safe haven for youth, training in important life skills, and youth mentoring, in a faith-based atmosphere.

The Children and Youth Development ministry is administered through the NICK Program. Here is a list of our current and planned activities:

  • Adopt-a-School After-school tutoring and mentoring: We adopted two underserved elementary schools in the Kenwood area of Chicago, which are the Jackie Robinson Elementary School and Price Elementary School in the past, providing free after-school tutoring and programming for the students. Currently we partner with the Union League Boys and Girls Club at Stagg Elementary in Englewood to mentor youth.   We plan to expand our after-school tutoring to more schools. We also mentor youth in weekly gatherings at our facility.
  • Summer Camps. We parter with community organizations to host an annual summer camp for youth at our facility.
  • Youth Empowerment Events: we host several youth empowerment events at the current facility provided by the CityLight Church.
